Bolero Cutscene Skip (from Goron City)

deathless with bomb ISG

setup by Exodus

This setup uses a glitchy ledge grab to put Link in a ledge grab state below the lava, where he can then drop and void out at the void plane to skip the cutscene.

  1. Hookshot to bridge and target while climbing (facing angle 0x4066)
  2. Get ISG
  3. Turn around and walk into the bridge to get on the very edge (facing angle 0xc060)
  4. Backflip
  5. Turn left and sidehop left
  6. Backwalk to the edge
  7. Turn up-right (see notes)
  8. Backwalk slowly into side of bridge (see notes) and press B to pull sword around when Link's left foot reaches the ground for the first time; this should activate the cutscene and start the glitchy ledge grab
  9. At any time after Sheik appears on the screen, press A to drop (see notes)

Notes:

  • The angle needed in step 7 is very lenient. It can be tapped, but ESS turning will yield a more consistent set of recognizable angles.
  • In step 8, backwalking at some positions/angles will make Link hover, so his y velocity will settle at -20; in this case, slashing at any time after the y velocity is sufficiently low will work. But other positions/angles will make Link's y velocity decrease to -15, jump back to -4, and then start decreasing from 0 again on a loop; in this case, the slash must be timed when Link's y velocity is low enough that he'll fall under the lava during the glitchy ledge grab, hence the visual cue. (With sword in hand, the B press must be when y velocity is between -6 and -12.) Slashing with a bad y velocity will either make Link slash without grabbing the ledge (2f window) or ledge grab but land on the lava and then get teleported back up into the cutscene - see this video for demonstrations. It's not possible (?) to quickly discern which case you have, so timing the slash is always a good idea. On top of that, backwalking by holding between ESS and the full down notch is a good idea because holding down notch for too long (13 frames) after slashing will make Link start to climb, which puts him back in the cutscene.
  • During the glitchy ledge grab in step 9, Link is falling until he finishes the grab animation. If he's moving downward fast enough, the animation finishes when he's below the lava floor, so dropping from there lets him fall all the way to the void plane. If he's not moving downward fast enough or you press A to drop too early, he'll still be above the lava floor, so dropping will make him land on the lava and then get teleported back to the bridge by the cutscene. Sheik is just a visual cue because Link himself is offscreen when he passes the lava floor.

deathless with sign ISG

This video shows how to consistently get a good angle after hookshotting to the pole above the bridge after getting ISG from the sign. The setup is then identical to the bomb ISG setup above starting at step 4.
