Fast spin
To make Link spin around faster as he draws the sword for Mortal Draw, either
-
hold slightly in either the direction Link is facing or the opposite direction and then press A or
-
fully hold either the direction Link is facing or the opposite direction and press A on the same frame.
This version of Mortal Draw hits the enemy 4 frames earlier than a neutral Mortal Draw but takes 5 frames longer to regain control. This is useful in a few situations for small optimization. For example, in 100% during the Zant Lakebed phase, this Mortal Draw is optimal, as the player must wait for the second cycle after Mortal Drawing anyway. Furthermore, it has a wider hit area, which can be useful for groups of enemies as shown in the video.
No spin
To cancel the spinning animation altogether, press A to Mortal Draw on any of the first 4 possible frames after a roll. This variation is the fastest both to hit the enemy and to regain control, and it is useful wherever a Mortal Draw follows a roll, such as when fighting Darkhammer or getting the Bulblin Camp heart piece.
